Take matters into your own hands! Recruitment for the project is starting
As the GrowSPACE Foundation, we are starting another ambitious initiative. “Take matters into your own hands!” is starting – a program to support civic participation of young people in the Podkarpackie province. We will train 60 young people from the Podkarpackie province who do not want to remain passive.
Program assumptions
The project aims to increase the participation of young people and young adults in public life in three smaller towns in the Podkarpackie province – Tarnobrzeg, Mielec and Jarosław. The youth will be invited to weekend trainings. After the holidays, the youth will be tasked with conducting their own initiatives (e.g. workshops, meetings) in the local environment. Participants will receive mentoring support and access to consultations.
Project funding
The programme is funded by the project “Protecting EU values and fundamental rights through public participation and assistance to civil society in Central Europe – PROTEUS” implemented by the Transatlantic Foundation in cooperation with the Engaging Central Europe (ECE) programme run by The German Marshall Fund of the United States. The PROTEUS project is co-financed by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) as part of the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme of the European Union.
Project objective
Thanks to the programme based on the principles of anti-discrimination education, young people will receive the necessary competences. The program assumes:
providing young people with comprehensive knowledge in the field of project management, building communities around local initiatives and conducting their own social activities,
activating young people from the local community of Tarnobrzeg, Mielec and Jarosław,
influencing attitudes and skills in order to counteract discrimination and violence motivated by prejudice,
supporting equality and diversity,
building understanding and empathy,
supporting well-being.
The workshop program will also respond to the social problem of unequal treatment and the level of opportunities that affect people from specific minority groups, and which so often affects small towns and the minority communities located in them.
